Week Beginning 22nd February

19th Feb 2021

Morning everyone - welcome back after the half term break. I am sure you have all heard on the news that we are allowed to reopen fully for two weeks from Monday 8th March. Once we receive guidance from the Department of Education we will be providing you further updates.

As this is the last week of February we will be finishing our focus on animals and we have two fun activities videos to get the week started with Mrs O’Reilly and Mrs Magee.

Today is going to be a lovely sunny day so why not get outside and explore in the garden - lift up a flower pot or some stones and see what tiny insects are hiding underneath.  Can you count how many you find, can you look closely at their bodies - how many legs do they have or are they like a worm or slug with no legs.  Ask a grown up to help you name them and they you can draw the different insects you find.

Look around the garden to find signs of spring - the days are getting warmer and brighter - are there any flowers starting to grow or buds on the trees. What time will it get dark today? Do you need. To top up your bird feeder.

Start the day with some building - check out the Lego challenge ideas, then get outside for lots of exercise and later help set the table for lunch.  Can you be a shape detective when out & about today? What shapes can you find? What shape are your bricks, the plate or cup at lunch time, your books? Can you sort the different objects into shape piles - a grown up can draw the shapes on pieces of paper to help you sort them and then count how many of each shape you can find.
